Transforming stress into rest with Yoga and Ayurveda

Ayurvedic medicine (“Ayurveda” for short) is one of the world’s oldest holistic (“whole-body”) healing systems. It was developed more than 3,000 years ago in India. It’s based on the belief that health and wellness depend on a delicate balance between the mind, body, and spirit.

Vicky Copeman is an Ayurvedic & Yoga Coach – during this session we will take a look at one of the elements of the Ayurvedic system called Vata. The yoga practice will be a time to move and stretch the body gently before creating poses to set the body up for a deeply nourishing rest (led by Emma). This will be followed by an informal talk from Vicky during which we will learn about the concept of Ayurveda, the Vata principle and how having an understanding of these two combined can reduce stress and anxiety and create balance within our diet and sleep pattern.

The Vata quality in Ayurvedic teaching  literally means wind (the translation from sanskrit), which is why the vata constitution, or dosha, is known for having the quality of wind and space at its heart. Too much of this can cause restlessness and too little can cause heaviness – come along and learn how to create balance for body, mind and soul!

Spaces are limited and booking is essential. This is part of a series of talks and although not necessary it would provide a deeper insight to this system of healing if all can be attended.
